Test and Tagging in The Workplace
As a legal requirement across workplaces, it has become a necessity to have all appliances and devices tested and tagged regularly to ensure the safety of your staff and clients. This rules out any risk of electric shock when using electrical equipment. No wonder it’s mandatory! Our team are fully equipped with the latest testing tools and can help you in exceeding workplace safety regulations..
Depending on the type of equipment and the workplace will determine how often you will need an electrician to test and tag your equipment.
For the most common environments, we recommend the following frequencies:
- 3 months – building, construction and demolition
- 6 months – factories, warehouses and production
- 12 months – an environment where the equipment/supply cord is prone to flexing or open to abuse (offices and restaurants)
- 5 yearly – an environment where the equipment/supply cord is not prone to flexing or open to abuse (fixed and stationary equipment.
What If My Electrical Equipment Fails?
90% of the time if an appliance fails the safety test, our electrician can fix the appliance by replacing the lead or the plug top. However, if the fault is internal in the appliance, then we will recommend either talking to the manufacturer or having it replaced. We know as well as anyone that safety should be the first priority.

One of our Lexity Electricians will arrive at your site, discuss exactly what you need electrically test and tagged and we’ll present you with a plan and a quote. For test and tagging, we can also give accurate quotes over the phone or email. Upon approval, we’ll get straight into it so you have peace of mind that your equipment is electrically safe and not worry about the risk of injured staff or clients. We will also keep you on a customer database so you know when you are due for your next test and tag.
